Minister Gašić meets with Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission Gen. Youxia



Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Vice President of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, General Zhang Youxia, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
Following a tête-à-tête, the Serbian and Chinese delegations held a meeting, focusing on bilateral military cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Gašić emphasized that relations between Serbia and China are at the highest level and highlighted the importance of China’s support for Serbia’s efforts to preserve its territorial integrity and sovereignty, in light of the ongoing violations of fundamental human rights and core principles of the United Nations Charter occurring in Kosovo and Metohija at the hands of the provisional Priština institutions. He noted that Serbia plays a key role in maintaining stability in the region and advocates for the peaceful resolution of disputes, mutual understanding, and dialogue as the principal mechanisms for preserving peace in Southeast Europe.
During the meeting, the Minister of Defence said that Serbia believes in the principle of strengthening its defence capabilities with the aim of deterring potential security threats and preserving stability. He also expressed his expectation that excellent cooperation in the military-technical field would continue to the mutual benefit of both countries.

Vice President of the Central Military Commission Gen. Youxia emphasized that today’s meeting provided an opportunity for constructive defence talks aimed at further strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
On the second day of their official visit to China, Minister Gašić and the delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, also visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China.
