Meeting between the Minister of Defence and Chairman of the European Union Military Committee



Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic has had talks today with the Chairman of the EU Military Committee General Patrick de Rousier.

It was pointed out that the European integration is one of the most important priorities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. It was concluded that active involvement in the concept of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the foreign policy of the European Union contributed to the improvement of the political position of the Republic of Serbia.

The priorities of the Ministry of Defence under the Common Security and Defence Policy are: the increased involvement in the European Union crisis management operations, the development of joint projects with the European Defence Agency and the improvement of the administrative capacity for a more active cooperation with the European Union.

"We will continue with active participation in the European Union crisis management operations ATALANTA and EUTM – Somalia, increasing the involvement in the existing missions and the approved engagement in mission EUTM Mali", Minister Rodic said.

Participating in the training programmes organized by the European College of Defence and Security in Brussels, the Ministry of Defence significantly improves administrative capacities for cooperation in the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy. It was announced Administrative Agreement, whose text was agreed, is to be signed very soon as well as the development of joint projects with the European Defence Agency.
