SAF CHOD in Spain



Serbian Army Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met today in Madrid with the CHOD of Spain, Admiral Fernando Garcia Sanchez.

Admiral Fernando Garcia Sanchez and General Ljubisa Dikovic discussed the possibilities of enhancing bilateral military cooperation and concretization of future activities related to the mutual engagement of the UN multinational operation in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Key areas of cooperation between Spanish and Serbian armed forces are joint participation in multinational operations, joint training of special units and exchange of experiences in the field of military traffic and transportation, while there is  interest for military education and military economic cooperation.

During his stay in Spain, General Dikovic will visit the Operations Command, Center for Higher Studies of National Defense and the Spanish armed forces Parachute Brigade.

The Serbian Armed Forces have participated in UN mission in Lebanon since 20th December 2010, as part of the Spanish contingent. Besides 6 staff officers previously sent on 25 November 2012, additional 36 members of an infantry platoon are engaged together with 5 members of the national support element, and as of 24 March 2013, 2 more members of our military have been sent to Lebannon, deployed as staff officers.
