Enhancing cooperation with Great Britain



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic met in London with the Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond, the Director General for Security Policy in the Ministry of Defence Tom McCain and Minister for International Security Strategy Dr Andrew Morrison.

The topics of the talks were EU integration, Kosovo and Metohija, defence policy, regional security, and aspects of multilateral and bilateral military cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Vucic emphasized that Serbia will have significant support from Great Britain on its European path to, but that they also expect the improvement of bilateral, political and economic cooperation.

"I expect the arrival of important British investors to Serbia", Vucic said.

In terms of defence cooperation, Vucic talked with his British colleagues about improving the possibility of civilian participation in multinational peacekeeping operations, joint projects to improve air defence capabilities, participation in projects to improve regional capabilities and further improvement of military medical cooperation.

In the afternoon, Vucic is to meet with representatives of the military intelligence service of the United Kingdom to discuss the initiation of cooperation in this field.

Vucic is to end his visit to the UK by meeting with David Lidington, Minister for Europe.
