Odbrana Media Centre announced program activities for the coming season



Odbrana Media Centre organized at the Serbian Armed Forces Central Military Club in Belgrade a press conference where they announced the program activities of this institution until the end of the year – art exhibitions in the Gallery of the Military Club, music programmes, as well as publishing activities on the eve of the upcoming Belgrade Book Fair.

Director of Odbrana Media Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic, speaking about the work of this specialized military institution underlined that next year it will celebrate 60 years of the work of the Gallery.

- We hope that on the occasion of our great jubilee we will prepare the whole collection catalogue and thereby make it available to a wider audience. We will reinstate the tradition of hosting art colonies. In September, we would organise a large art colony, and after that, an exhibition, which would be the central event marking of the work of our Gallery, Lieutenant Colonel Markovi? announced, expressing also his desire that the gets involved in the work of professional associations and institutions of the National Committee and other professional institutions which would add to the recognition of the Military Club Collection.

As a special dimension of cooperation, Media Centre organises marking of different jubilees of various cultural institutions from Serbia in the Military Club. So the opening of the season will be marked by an exhibition of paintings by Dušan Jevtovi?, on the anniversary of the death of the artist. City Museum in Vrsac, will also mark 130 years of its work in the Military Club by organising in November the exhibition by Dragana Korucev. The setting covers the period from the 18th century until the late 20th century, and Paja Jovanovi?, Uros Predic and Nikola Aksentijevi? are just some of the artists whose works will be available at the exhibition in November. Exhibition of Pavle Aksentijevic is also scheduled for the first half of November, in December there will be organized an exhibition of memorial collection of Miodrag Markovic, the National Museum of Pozarevac, and the exhibitions will be prepared also by many other cultural institutions.

The journalists were addressed by Nina Krstic, Director of the Museum of Naive and Marginal Art Jagodina, daughter of the artist Dusan Jevtovic whose exhibition will be opened tomorrow in the Central Military Club, Ivanka Jevtovic, Anica Medakovic, Director of the City Museum of Vrsac and Dragana Markovic, Editor-in-Chief of Publishing Activities in Odbrana MC, who presented the publishing activities of that institution.

Between the two Book Fairs, Odbrana Media Centre published about 70 titles, 25 of which will be presented at the Book Fair. At the booth of the Odbrana Media Centre, about 500 titles will be exposed. Currently, about 100 new titles are under preparation, being in some of the final stages of the creation of the book. From this year's production we would like to spotlight the titles which follow the significant jubilees – a centenary of the Serbian military aviation and a hundred years of the Balkan wars.

The conference featured a special "Month of Books" action which is to be held from 1st t to 28th October at the Military Club, and from 21st to 28th October at the booth of Odbrana MC at the 57th International Book Fair in Belgrade and in the shop "Military Book."

Journalists were able to visit the exhibition and drawing-rooms of the Military Club, and for the first time they were able to see the art collection depot of the Military Club Gallery, which has recently been completely refurbished. The depot stores more than 1,500 works of art produced mostly in the second half of the 20th century.
