Meeting between the Minister of Defence and the Ambassador of Norway
Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic spoke today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Belgrade Nils Ragnar Kamsvag.
It was assessed that bilateral military relations are very important and developed part of the overall traditionally good relations between the two countries.
Considering the extent of cooperation in the fields of military education, military medicine and defence planning, the Minister expressed his gratitude for the previous significant help and support from Norway to the defence reform. He emphasized satisfaction with joint engagement of the members of the armed forces of Serbia and Norway in the multinational operation in Chad and the interest in continuing this cooperation .
They talked about the new projects and areas of cooperation. The greatest importance was attached to the anti-corruption projects and projects in the field of energy efficiency.
The Norwegian Ambassador emphasized that the cooperation with Serbia is the most intensive one in comparison to the other Participants in the Partnership for Peace programme, and the countries aspiring to join the European Union and expressed his hopes that the level of cooperation with Serbia will grow.
Due to the principled support of the Kingdom of Norway, Serbia was allowed to actively participate in the Balkan military medical forces. The Ministry of Defence expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Norway for additional equipping of the deployable medical facility, which is to be completed in summer 2014 at the latest.
"In the forthcoming period we would like to further strengthen relations with Norway and we are interested in the improvement of all previous forms of cooperation. Considering the fact that Norway is the European leader in terms of energy efficiency, we are ready to learn and see how this experience can be applied in our defence system", Minister Rodic said and reiterated his invitation to the Norwegian Minister of Defence for a visit.
