Bundestag Member Dr Neu at Exhibition “Defence 78”

Member of Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr Alexander Neu, who is a member of the Board for Defence and Deputy Member of Foreign Affairs Board, visited today exhibition of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces “Defence 78” in the Museum of the City of Belgrade, together with Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Milan Ranković and Head of Department for Tradition, Standard and Veterans Colonel Duško Šljivančanin.

After the tour of the exhibition, Bundestag Member Dr Neu stated that many of exhibited photographs and items that he saw, reminded him of the events of 20 years ago.

- It is sad to see how many civilian victims there were. I can fully understand how devastating impact it had and how great wounds it inflicted to the Serbian people. That is still felt. One small people, one small armed force managed to resist NATO aggression and that is very well documented at the exhibition – said Dr Neu and expressed his gratitude for having the opportunity to visit the Museum and tour the exhibition “Defence 78”.

Bundestag Member wrote in the memorial book his impression that the exhibition represented “a memory of the victims of NATO aggressor in Serbia in 1999“.

Exhibition “Defence 78”, by author Dušan Jovović, was set up on the occasion of commemorating the 20th anniversary of defence of fatherland from NATO aggression. The project was initiated by the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.

In a unique way, the exhibition presents the heroic defence of the country over 78 days of NATO aggression, which started by an attack against the FR Yugoslavia on 24th March 1999 without the approval of the United Nations Security Council, and it is dedicated to killed members of armed forces, police and civilians, among whom, sadly, there were many children.
