Stability and prosperity are common goals of Serbia and Greece

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić has met today with Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Alexis Tsipras in the Palace of Serbia. The meeting was followed by the second session of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the Republic of Serbia and the Hellenic Republic, attended by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

President Vučić emphasized that during today's meeting they discussed all important regional issues of importance for both countries.

- Serbia and Greece maintain very good, sincere and truly friendly relations, and the Serbian people see Greece as an ally and a friend in politics, as well as in the economy and in all other significant matters – President Vučić pointed out.

He expressed his gratitude to Greece and Prime Minister Tsipras for the support they offer to the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, because they understand the position of our country very well, but also on the fact that wherever they can and however they can they provide support to the Serbian people and the Serbian state.

President Vučić said that during the talks with Prime Minister Tsipras, they touched upon all the problems in Kosovo and Metohija that Serbia faces.

- I also spoke about the formation of the Kosovo Army, which was done contrary to international law and local legislation, as well as about taxes that are contrary to the norms of common sense and implicit behaviour in the 21st century when you have the free flow of goods, services and capital, and that is something which completely stopped the trade between Belgrade and Pristina – President Vučić said.

Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Alexis Tsipras, pointed out that during the previous meetings with President Vučić, significant steps were taken regarding the progress of cooperation, relying on the common goal and the common vision – stability and prosperity.

Prime Minister Tsipras assessed that the unacceptable activities of Pristina not only do not contribute to stability in the region, but rather cause destabilisation and it is necessary to speak out loud about that. President Vučić and the Government of Serbia, he added, have a very difficult job, but they should not stray from the path.

Tsipras condemned the actions carried out by the so-called Kosovo, that “is pouring oil on fire”, expressing support for Serbia on that path and efforts to find a solution, because that is the perspective Serbia has to maintain stability in the region.

As could be heard after today's meeting of the two officials, the next, third session of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the Republic of Serbia and the Hellenic Republic will be held in Greece in spring.
