Minister Vulin: Greater Albania is key security issue for our country and the entire region

President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić has opened the conference “Towards Safer Serbia” today, where Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin took part in the panel devoted to the regional security.

Minister Vulin pointed out that essential issue for our security and security of the entire region is the idea of Greater Albania.

- Greater Albania is causing serious instability and deep concerns, and the absence of reaction of the international community to its creation is something that worries us. This is the most serious threat to peace in the Balkans – creation of a new state, the state that in order to be formed must include the territory of today's Albania, parts of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, even part of Greece – Minister Vulin emphasized.

Minister Vulin recalled statements by Thaci and Edi Rama, as well as the Albanian president's statement on the borders, which only testify to the main security problem of the Balkans – the creation of Greater Albania, adding that little is being discussed in this regard in the EU and international fora.

- If the conflicts in the Balkans happen again, they will be caused by someone’s attempt to solve the Albanian national issue while neglecting all other national issues – Minister Vulin pointed out.

- It is the legitimate right of Serbia to take care of its compatriots wherever they live. It does not intend to interfere in anyone's relations, changing borders, but to take care of the Serbs no matter where they live – Minister Vulin emphasized.

Speaking about security challenges, minister singled out as the main ones: illegal declaration of independence of the so-called Kosovo, Islamic fanaticism, migrant crisis, but, as he added, more than anything, the absence of clear rules and brutal violation of the international law is the biggest security challenge in this region and every other area.

- When there is no international law, and the bombing of the FR of Yugoslavia and the recognition of the secession of Kosovo and Metohija destroyed international law, you have no clear rules on the basis of which a country and a nation exist. The absence of international law is the most dangerous thing that has happened in this region, more dangerous than wars. Wars can stop once, and if there are no rules, if we live in a world without law, then it will never stop - the defence minister assessed.

Minister Vulin stressed that the absence of international law, the brutal rape of international law, and the brutal abrogation of all the rules is the biggest threat in the Balkans.

During his address, he also concluded that during the past few years, during President Vučić's term of office, Serbia won the right to decide on itself, not to take care of the interests of others, as it often did through history.
