Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic visit Joint Military and Police Force on the border with Bulgaria



Министар одбране Зоран Ђорђевић и министар правде Нела Кубуровић обишли Заједничке снаге војске и полиције на граници према БугарскојDefence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic, accompanied by Deputy Chief of SAF GS Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, MSA Director Brigadier General Petar Cvetkovic and Commander of the Joint Military and Police Force, Major General Zelimir Glisovic, have visited today members of the Joint Military and Police Force in Sector B, which are securing part of the border of the Republic of Serbia with the Republic of Bulgaria. At the beginning of the visit, Major General Zelimir Glisovic briefed the ministers of defence and justice about the area of ​​responsibility, the complex tasks of the Joint Forces and the fact that they managed by their activities to deter more than 9300 persons from illegal border crossing.
 
During their visit to Sector B, Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic visited the occupied facilities of Petacinci and Svoboda to see first-hand that the military and police members carry out their tasks effectively to prevent illegal crossings and human trafficking. They took the opportunity to know in detail the methods and ways of securing the border with Bulgaria, such as patrols, checkpoints, ambushes or using thermal imaging system. During the visit, Ministers Djordjevic and Kuburovic made a tour of the Sector B Headquarters for securing the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria and the Regional Centre of the Border Police at Gradina border crossing.

Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic announced today tightening penalties for the crime of human trafficking and illegal crossing of the state border, as part of amendments to the Criminal Code. She also noted that there was good cooperation between the Joint Military and Police Force and the police and judicial authorities, but that such cooperation needs to be further strengthened and improved.
