High degree of military cooperation with the USA
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric met today with the Deputy US Ambassador to Belgrade Gordon Dugud. The interlocutors jointly agreed that bilateral military cooperation between the two countries is at a high level of development and exchanged views on the recent and the upcoming activities of the two defence systems.
During the talks, State Secretary Neric briefed his interlocutor with the procedures and activities jointly undertaken by the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Iterior in connection with the implementation of joint patrols aimed at controlling the borders and preventing illegal migrations. They highlighted positive attitude of Serbia towards migrants and migrant crisis in general, as one of the key events that characterize current security issues in the region and the world.It was estimated that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces contribute by their significant participation in peacekeeping operations to the aspirations that lead to the creation of a stable environment necessary for further development. State Secretary Neric also stated that such a principle of politics can be seen in the conduct of state and military leadership of Serbia, with the aim of creating the best possible regional stability.
In the field of bilateral military cooperation, they especially discussed the upcoming important activities, such as celebrating the anniversary – ten years of cooperation with Ohio NG under the State Partnership Programme, upcoming exercise activities and security assistance programmes. They also analysed the completed and the forthcoming high-level visits that both sides assessed as excellent opportunities for defining guidelines for further development of the overall relations between the two sides.
