Defence Minister receives Head of NATO Military Liaison Office



Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic received Chief of the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade, Brigadier General Cesare Marinelli. During the meeting, they discussed the promotion of cooperation between Serbia and NATO through the Partnership for Peace Programme and the cooperation of the Serbian Armed Forces with KFOR.

Minister Djordjevic pointed out that NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade is an important channel of communication between the Republic of Serbia and the Joint Force Command in Naples on issues of military cooperation with the Alliance. He stressed the importance of the NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade in the process of harmonisation, preparation and implementation of the activities of international military cooperation between Serbia and NATO.

- We particularly appreciate the proactive approach and initiative of the Office in deepening the cooperation in areas in which it has already been established, Minister Djordjevic said and reminded that in accordance with the Presentation Document for joining the Partnership for Peace Programme, the Republic of Serbia promoted CBRN Centre in Krusevac as the national capacity that may be made available to regional and wider international needs.

Brigadier General Marinelli has made positive impressions after the visit to the CBRN Centre in Krusevac and stressed that his Office would give its full support to the development of the Centre under the auspices of the community of Partnership Training and Education Centres. He also stressed the support that NATO provides to development of capacities of TRZ Kragujevac through the NATO/PfP Trust Fund for the disassembly of surplus ordnance.
