Visit by the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Republic



Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met today in Belgrade with Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic General Milan Maxim, who leads the Slovak delegation during their visit to our country.

Generals Dikovic and Maxim discussed the enhancement of the bilateral military cooperation, political and security situation in the region, the joint engagement in peacekeeping operations and cooperation in the field of military education and training.

The two generals agreed that relations between Serbia and Slovakia are characterised with mutual respect and the crown of bilateral cooperation is the joint participation in the UN mission in Cyprus. It was concluded that there is room for improvement of the cooperation so far and, above all, in the field of training and advancement at different levels.

General Dikovic thanked General Maxim for the principled stance of the Slovak Republic regarding the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.

During his visit to Serbia, General Maxim will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala, will meet with the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric and visit the Special Brigade.
