Session of the Government

Meeting of the Political Council of the Government for the execution of the National Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 – Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia has been held today at the Government building. The session was chaired by the Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic who expressed his wish to continue to perform the duty of the Chairman of the Political Council which he headed while he served as state secretary, even after his appointment as minister.

At the meeting they discussed the information about the progress in the work of the Working Group on the development of the NAP for the Period from 2016 to 2020. The Working Group which was established by the Decision of the Government in December 2015, has organized its work through six subgroups and the main idea in making this second NAP for Serbia is that women in the local community are put in its focus. The idea is that the new National Action Plan contains five thematic sections in addition to the Introduction, and these are: Institutions, Prevention, Participation, Protection and Recovery.

As it was said at the session of the Political Council, the public consultation process on the local level is scheduled for May, after which the Draft NAP will be developed and public hearing conducted. The new NAP is expected to be adopted by September this year to start with its implementation in the second half of 2016.
