Minister of Defence meets German Ambassador

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belgrade Axel Dittman. Djordjevic and Dittman agreed that the defence cooperation between the two countries is an intensive and quality one, and that the 2016 Bilateral Defence Cooperation Programme reflects mutual interest in significant qualitative and quantitative progress with regard to the planned activities.

Focal areas of cooperation are preparations for deployment and joint participation in multinational operations, education and training, military medicine and arms control.

Minister Djordjevic and Ambassador Dittman emphasized their satisfaction with the level of cooperation and developed trust between the German Armed Forces and the Serbian Armed Forces in the European Union operation in Mali, where our three-member medical team has been engaged upon the invitation of the EU in December 2014.

Speaking of the migrant crisis, Minister Djordjevic stressed that Serbia acts as a responsible member of the international community, assumes its share of the burden and responsibility and is ready to be part of a comprehensive common European solution to this problem.

Ambassador Dittman expressed interest in engagement of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in flood relief, for which a state of emergency was declared in Serbia yesterday.
