Strategic Defence Review adopted



At the session of the Serbian Government held on 16th April 2015, the Strategic Defence Review of the Republic of Serbia was adopted.

This is a defence planning document which provides the review of the state of defence capabilities and the achieved level of defence development, determines necessary capabilities, strategic decisions and priorities of the development of the defence system, and other important issues for the functioning and development of the defence system. The Strategic Defence Review contains positions on the strategic environment, defence system management, development of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, defence resources, development of individual system of importance for defence, and defence financing.

Positions determined in this document represent the new framework for the establishment of qualitatively new state in relation to the present state of the system, in accordance with the security environment and capabilities of the Republic of Serbia. With consistent implementation of positions and decisions from the Strategic Defence Review, conditions are created for stable functioning and partial development of MoD and SAF in the future period.

With the adoption of the new Strategic Defence Review, the former one from 19th March 2009 has become void.
