Secretary of State Djordjevic met with General Bartels



Secretary of State a the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Knud Bartels.

Састанак државног секретара Ђорђевића и генерала БартелсаDjordjevic and Bartels agreed that the mutual goal of Serbia and NATO is preservation of peace and stability in the Western Balkans, and that any political security destabilization in this region would benefit no one.

With adoption of Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), we are confirming the dedication to strengthening partnership with NATO in Partnership for Peace Program, Djordjevic stressed. Adoption of IPAP enables for more quality cooperation that will contribute to establishing interoperability of our armed forces for deployment in international environment.

Secretary of State Djordjevic said that Serbia is dedicated to more intensive deployment in UN and EU multinational operations. The reports we are receiving from the field, from various peacekeeping missions, confirm that SAF members are highly professional in conducting assigned tasks.

Djordjevic and Bartels stressed the importance of cooperation between the Armed Forces of Serbia and KFOR, which will remain the priority in the future. SAF and KFOR are credible partners and they will continue improving heir cooperation.

During the meeting, it was stressed that the newest security threat in the form of actions of the so-called Islamic State is a serious threat, not only to the region of the Near East, but also for the Euro-Atlantic region. It was concluded that we can fight against all security risks and threats only through joint action.
