Serbian Armed Forces continues to defend Serbia from flooding



The Serbian Armed Forces continues with protection, rescue and assistance to citizens and local authorities in the areas affected by heavy flooding. Today the Serbian Armed Forces will boost engagement on reinforcing the levees in the region of Sabac, prepare and send engineering machinery to Bajina Basta for remediation of landslides and examining the region of Novi Bracin near Razanj for setting up the heavy mechanized bridge on the Jovanovac River. Engagement in other municipalities also continues.

21.20 - According to the requirements of the Crisis Response Teams in Koceljeva, Obrenovac, Smederevska Palanka, Umcari, Surcin and others, as well as for the needs of the units engaged in the affected areas, the Central Logistics Base has issued tens of thousands of blankets, beds, sleeping bags, rubber boots, spades, oars and other chattels, for rendering assistance to citizens and preparing accommodation for the evacuees. Members of the bases were engaged in strengthening the bulwark in Gornji Milanovac and drinking water supply in Smederevska Palanka, Lapovo and Knic. Part of buildings of this largest logistic unit of the Serbian Armed Forces was prepared for the reception of evacuated people from the affected areas.

17:00 - CBRN platoon located in Ub continued to work on sanitation and biological decontamination of the area and agricultural holdings, in collaboration with the Veterinary Service of the Serbian Armed Forces, state veterinarian inspection, police units and the Emergency Response Team of Ub municipality. Only during the first day of engagement in the villages of the municipality of Ub, this temporary formation of the CBRN Personnel Training Centre carried out sanitation and biological decontamination of over 600 square meters of the buildings and surrounding areas and removed more than 240 bodies of dead cattle.

Sanitation and biological decontamination are carried out with 0,5-2 % sodium hypochlorite solution of chloractive disinfectant. Three car tanks for decontamination ACD M78, 1 wheeled water tank 3M, as well as decontamination device SaniJet C.921 were used.

CBRN PTC is preparing another platoon for the decontamination to carry out sanitation of the terrain and biological decontamination. In order to prevent the spread of disease and infection from contamination by animal carcasses, faecal water and contaminated sources of water supply, 246th Battalion is getting prepared for sanitation and biological decontamination of the terrain.

Three CBR decontamination platoons are at the highest level of readiness. Officers of CBRN service are also sent to the field to coordinate civilian and military capabilities for the sanitation of the terrain, biological decontamination, disinfection, disinsection and pest control of the flooded areas.

12:45 - Ten helicopters of the Serbian Armed Forces deliver water, food, medical supplies, baby equipment and other requisites in the regions of Sremska Mitrovica, Sabac, Koceljeva and Ub. Until 12 o'clock, 3 tons of drinking water and 7 tons of food, medical supplies and baby equipment were transported.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces evacuated yesterday a total of 1251 people, of which 71 people were evacuated by air. Sacks were filled and embankments on the Sava River near Sabac were reinforced, CBRN platoon from the CBRN Personnel Training Centre continued with sanitation of the terrain in Ub, 15,000 cubic meters of water were pumped from the sunken objects. About 13 tons of water and 13 tons of food, medical supplies and baby equipment were delivered by air, and heavy mechanized bridge was set up over the Gledic river near Godacica ...
