Expert Staff Talks



A delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia visited the Italian Republic to participate in Expert Staff Talks with representatives of the NATO Joint Forces Command Naples and other organisational units within NATO command structure.

The delegation that was led by Colonel Zlatko Bogosavljević from Department for International Military Cooperation of the Sector for Defence Policy met Assistant Chief of Staff for International Military Cooperation (J-9) of the NATO Joint Forces Command Naples Brigadier General Dieter Kohl. On that occasion, they underlined the significance of joint cooperation activities for confidence building, opening new opportunities for partner relations, that at the same time enable flexibility and transparency of future cooperation, and understanding.

During the meeting, they highlighted the importance of the overall cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and NATO under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace Programme, and the relevance of joint engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR. The interlocutors placed a particular focus on the cooperation with the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, and its support and contribution to the results achieved in the cooperation carried out so far. They concluded that the realisation of planned activities over the previous period was founded on realistic grounds and requirements based on defence interests of the Republic of Serbia. It was also stated that the Republic of Serbia is a militarily neutral state, and a reliable partner, dedicated to regional and global security, and that, by participating in activities under the auspices of difference cooperation mechanisms, it continuously enhances the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The Expert Staff Talks between representatives of the Ministry of Defence and NATO represent a regular annual activity, during which the participants analyse the degree of cooperation reached in the previous year, and they consider plans and propose cooperation activities for the period to come.
