State Secretary Starović at SEDM Meeting



State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović, and members of his delegation, participated at the South East Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM), held in Ankara.
Delegations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, United States of America, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia gathered at this meeting together with representatives of the Centre for Security Cooperation- RACVIAC and UNDP SEESAC.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the topic relating to the strengthening of cooperation, security and resilience of the states of South East Europe region. As a result, they adopted a joint statement in which all SEDM member states underlined their full commitment to the universal implementation of international law, United Nations Charter, Helsinki Final Act, and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. In addition, at the meeting, SEDM member states signed a Note of Accession of the Republic of Moldova to SEDM as a full member state.
The meeting was organised by the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Türkiye, the host of this year’s meeting, and the Ministry of Defence of Romania, the state that currently chairs this regional security initiative.

During the visit to the Republic of Türkiye, State Secretary Starović met Deputy Minister of Defence Celal Sami Tüfekçi with whom he talked about the enhancement of bilateral defence cooperation. He also visited the Mausoleum of the founder and the first president of the Republic of Türkiye Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, where he laid a wreath and signed in the Book of impressions.
