State Secretary Starović meets with Slovenian ambassador
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović today met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Damjan Bergant, to discuss the SAF members’ contribution to the flood relief efforts in Slovenia.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, Colonel Branislav Stevanović and Major Bojan Trkulja, who took part in the relief efforts in Slovenia.
According to State Secretary Starović, climate change has caused enormous problems in recent years, both regionally and globally. No country, no matter how strong it is, he said, is fully prepared to deal with such disasters. The Republic of Serbia, he added, is ready to provide assistance to the Slovenian people at any time, just as Slovenia helped Serbia during the 2014 floods.
Ambassador Bergant conveyed Slovenia’s gratitude to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces for providing assistance to Slovenia’s flood-stricken areas in August 2023. He especially thanked the Serbian Armed Forces for its rapid response, and for the professionalism they demonstrated during their engagement. The effort and hard work of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces, Ambassador Bergant said, helped the Slovenian people a lot in their flood remediation efforts.
