Honorary Award for “Zastava Film” on 51st Film Festival in Sopot



The Military Film Centre “Zastava Film” of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defence, received an honorary Statuette of Freedom at 51st Film Festival in Sopot, for the contribution to Serbian and Yugoslav cinematography. The occasion for the award was its 75th Anniversary of existence.

Artistic Director of the Festival Aleksandar Avramović conferred the honorary statuette to Director of the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film” Colonel Goran Ikonić. On that occasion he pointed out that Zastava Film had gained its artistic “halo” by cherishing documentary, documentary-feature films and numerous series.
 
Colonel Ikonić expressed his gratitude to all those who had recognised the importance of work of “Zastava Film” stressing that the Statuette of Freedom will hold a special place notwithstanding numerous rewards that Zastava Film had received.
 
In the eve of the Festival opening ceremony, an exhibition was opened in the Cultural Centre titled “75 Years of the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film”, which gives a brief overview of seven and a half decades of work of this film house.
The honorary Statuette of Freedom was also conferred to the screen writer and director Đorđe Kadijević for his life’s work, and during the Festival, the audience will have the opportunity to see a documentary film of the Military Film Centre “Oflag” in which Đorđe Kadijević narrates the fate of his father, and internee, who was taken to German camp in 1942.

The 51st Film Festival in Sopot
