Reception at Ministry of Defence to mark anniversary of Battle of Košare



On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Battle of Košare, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Živković has received representatives of associations upholding the traditions of units which participated in this battle in 1999 defending the borders of our country. This battle is a symbol of resistance against aggression and armed rebellion.
The associations that include veterans and families of fallen fighters maintain the traditions of heroic units, keep alive the memory of participants in the Battle of Košare, particularly the fallen members of units who defended the borders of our country at the legendary outpost, and provide active support to fighters, war invalids and families of fallen heroes in their efforts to exercise their rights.

Representatives of the Association of Veterans of the Heroic 125th Motorized Brigade, the Association of Heroes of the 549th Motorized "Dušan the Mighty" Brigade, the Association of Veterans of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, "Friends of the 72nd Special Brigade" Association and the Association of Veterans of the 53rd Border Battalion attended the reception. State Secretary Živković conveyed Defence Minister Nebojša Stefanović’s expressions of support to representatives of the associations and complimented and thanked the associations for their contribution. He also thanked individuals who participate in preserving the legacy of this historical event of immense importance for the people and the military.
  At the reception, memories of this and all other battles and members of the Yugoslav Army who were killed during the aggression against our country were evoked. The problems of veterans and veterans' associations and the support of the Ministry of Defence in addressing them were also discussed.
