Meeting between Minister Stefanović and Ambassador of France
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has met today with the Ambassador of France to Serbia, H.E. Mr. Pierre Cochard. They discussed further improvement of defence cooperation between the two countries, including Serbian delegation’s visit to Paris and our participation in the International Defence Tradeshow and Exhibition EUROSATORY 2022.
Minister Stefanović offered his congratulations on the appointment of Sébastien Lecornu as Minister of the Armed Forces of France and expressed Serbia’s determination to further improve our cooperation with France, which he described as intensive and comprehensive, particularly in the military-economic and military-technical segments.
According to the Minister, the cooperation follows overall relations between the two countries, which show a constant upward trend thanks to the meetings and friendly relations between presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Emmanuel Macron. He thanked the French Republic for supporting Serbia on its path to full EU membership.
Ambassador Cochard said that the French Republic considers Serbia a significant partner, primarily in the field of military-economic cooperation, and expressed his expectation that cooperation would be further improved. He also reaffirmed France’s support for Serbia’s European integration, which, according to him, is part of the agenda of France’s current presidency of the Council of the European Union.
