Meeting between Assistant Minister Bandić and representatives of Royal College of Defence Studies



Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić has met today with representatives of UK’s Royal College of Defence Studies. The meeting was held at the Palace of Serbia, as part of the delegation's study visit to the region.
  Assistant Minister Bandić informed the representatives of the Royal College of Defence Studies about Serbia’s key positions on the current political and security situation in the region and the world.

As he pointed out, the Ministry of Defence provides considerable support to the Republic of Serbia in its efforts to achieve foreign policy goals, improving relations and cooperation in the field of defence with all countries and international organizations, in accordance with defined national interests and complying with international law and international obligations.
 
According to him, the Ministry of Defence is firmly committed to the development and improvement of regional cooperation and the Republic of Serbia is increasing its capability to actively participate in regional initiatives and all cooperation processes and joint operations, as prerequisites for building national, regional and global security.

Assistant Minister Bandić also spoke about the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces as part of the EU integration process, cooperation within the Partnership for Peace program, and the participation of members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations.
  According to him, as a neutral state, the Republic of Serbia is determined to constantly improve the defence system in order to be able to respond effectively to challenges, risks and security threats.

Bandić said that there was a positive trend in the development of bilateral defence cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the United Kingdom, and conveyed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to overcome differences in the perception of security issues in the Balkans and bring the two countries’ positions closer together.

The Royal Defence College delegation, consisting of selected representatives from the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Kuwait, Israel, the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is in Serbia as part of a study visit to the Southeast Europe region.
