Tomorrow, at Noon, Fourth Cycle of Military History Quiz

Tomorrow, 7th May, at noon, lovers of military history will have an opportunity to participate in the fourth cycle of the quiz “ALL QUIZ” at the Internet side of the Ministry of Defence, and win valuable rewards. The competition in knowledge, organised by the Ministry of Defence every first Saturday in month, attracts ever greater number of competitors cycle after cycle.

The quiz creators, Colonel Slobodan Đukić PhD from the Military Academy and Colonel Dalibor Denda PhD from the Strategic Research Institute, underline that the primary purpose of that project is to popularise the national history, chiefly among younger population.

- We wish to attract young people to acquire knowledge about our national history through informal ways of gaining knowledge, and the idea is to have as much participants as possible. The questions are conceived in such a manner that they demand from the participants to think and link some historical events. There is also a group of the most difficult questions for the experts of military history so that we could single out the best participants. We are satisfied with the response, since there were between 150 and 300 participants who took part in the competition in each cycle, and there is even a bigger number of those who play throughout a month in order to prepare themselves for the competitive part – Colonel Đukić says.

Colonel Dalibor Denda PhD underlines that there are three levels of questions.

- The quiz consists of multiple choice questions, middle level and harder questions which are educational in their character. Our goal is to promote the armed forces, military history both through the questions and through very organisation of the quiz. Quiz is an interesting concept because one learns through the game and acquires new knowledge that is less available – Colonel Denda explains.

Ana Gajić and Second Lieutenant Tijana Stanojković the winners of the third cycle of “ALL QUIZ”, were rewarded for their knowledge with seven-day stay in facilities of military establishments’ “Tara” and “Morović”.

Ana Gajić who correctly answered 14 out of 15 possible questions in only 44 seconds, says that she inherited the love for history from her father, and that she has been cherishing that interest ever since.

- The interest in military history comes from my dad who graduated from the Naval Military High School “Maršal Tito” in Split. He worked as a radio-telegrapher and crypto-teleprinter operator and I have learned a lot from him about military history. Also I have learnt a lot in the school. Now, preparing for the quiz, I read historical trivia – Ana points out, who, as she admits herself, has played the quiz at the site of the Ministry of Defence since the very beginning.

- I have been playing since February, from the first cycle of the quiz. Honestly speaking, the questions were not hard. I like the fact that everyone can participate and the concept is good. The reward is truly great, and I did not know that I would get it. When the mail arrived, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised and I cannot wait to go to Tara – the winner of the third cycle says.

Second Lieutenant Tijana Stanojković who graduated from the Medical Faculty of the MMA, also answered 14 questions correctly, but it took her a bit more time than the winner.

- I saw the announcement on Instagram and applied. I did not prepare, and I acquired all the knowledge through my education. The questions were diverse, and I particularly liked that there were some questions that one can learn from – Second Lieutenant Stanojković stresses.

Be reminded that everyone who wishes to participate in the quiz can do so at the official Internet site and Facebook page of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces.

The competing cycles are to take place each first Saturday in month by the end of 2022, and the next opportunity for the lovers of military history to show their knowledge and win valuable rewards is going to be on 7th May.
