Meeting of U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5) member and observer states held
Acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić has attended the meeting of political directors at the ministries of foreign affairs and defence of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5) member and observer states, held in Budva.
The meeting discussed regional cooperation under the auspices of this regional security initiative, particularly focusing on current security challenges. It was pointed out at the meeting that Serbia, as a neutral state, remains committed to the development of regional cooperation with a view to making a joint contribution to the preservation of peace and stability in the region, and addressing open issues through dialogue. It was highlighted that the dialogue on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija was a particularly important segment of cooperation between Serbia and NATO, and expectations were expressed that the international security force (KFOR) would maintain a status-neutral and impartial position and continue taking proactive action to prevent any threats to security situation in the field.
Concerns and deep regret over the events in Ukraine were also expressed at the meeting, as well as Serbia's readiness to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
Serbia has been participating in the meetings of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter (A5), since December 2008, as an observer state, while the United States, Albania, Croatia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are member states.
