Promotion of voluntary military service in Serbian cities
The Ministry of Defence ran the first promotion of voluntary military service in 2022 on January 31 in Medveđa and on February 1 in Ruma and Obrenovac.
As the March intake approaches, the Ministry of Defence has made sure that interested citizens can get informed on time and in detail about the manner and procedure of applying for voluntary military service through competent territorial bodies, the Ministry of Defence Centre for the Local Self-Government of Leskovac and the Ministry of Defence Regional Centre Niš, at the premises of the Medveđa Cultural Centre. The Municipality of Medveđa and the Jablanica Administrative District have provided support to the Ministry of Defence Centre for the Local Self-Government of Leskovac in promoting voluntary military service.
The presence of the president of the Medveđa municipality, Nebojša Arsić, PhD, and the head of the Jablanica Administrative District, Miloš Ćirić, confirmed their understanding of the importance of increasing the number of personnel in Defence.In Ruma, the promotion was organized at the premises of the "Milenko Brzak Uča" Secondary Technical School, and the students of the "Stevan Petrović - Brile" Secondary Vocational School also attended. Besides final year students, the younger students were also interested in voluntary military service, and it was explained to them that they are eligible for voluntary military service in the calendar year in which they turn 19. Great interest was noticed among secondary school students.
The Obrenovac municipality also provided support for the promotion of voluntary military service. The president of Belgrade’s Obrenovac municipality, Miroslav Čučković, allowed the members of the Ministry of Defence to use the offices of the Obrenovac Municipality Administration for the promotion of voluntary military service. The exceptional cooperation of the organizational units of the defence system in carrying out the activities that are important for the improvement of the defence system has been confirmed through the activities promoting voluntary military service.
