Personnel Service Day marked

The ceremony marking the Personnel Service Day was held today in the Central Military Club’s Ceremonial Hall.

At the beginning of the event, letters of congratulations from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović PhD and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, were read.
Congratulating all members of the personnel service on their anniversary, Assistant Minister for Human Resources Katarina Tomašević noted that September 1 was chosen as the Personnel Service Day because on that day the so-called "personnel year" begins, a new cycle of schooling and training in military schools, newly-promoted officers and NCOs take on duties and the most important activities and results in the field of provision of personnel at all levels are summarized.

- In all countries of the world, including ours, the creation of the Personnel Service started and it began to gain importance almost a century and a half ago. Even then, it was concluded that an organization is inconceivable without staff and people. To this day, nothing has changed in this respect. Even today, in the 21st century, with all the technological innovations, man is still the most important factor, because without his ideas and creativity, the set goals and desired state cannot be achieved - the Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources emphasized.
This means, she added, that human resources are the most important resources in any system, especially a large one such as the defence system, so they deserve special attention and interest.

- A member of the defence system who is satisfied, appreciated and adequately rewarded, will be motivated to work harder. Investment in staff should not be considered a cost, but a long-term investment, which is the essence of proper management of that resource - said Assistant Minister for Human Resources Tomašević.

Tomašević cited the most important activities over the past "personnel year" in the defence system and expressed belief that the achieved results are a guarantee that the work of human resources services will be efficient and held in high esteem in the coming period.
  - In addition to the results, I want to focus today on cooperation and the staff itself. All these activities and results that we mentioned are a product of joint work, not only in the Human Resources Department and not only in the Human Resources Sector, but also in other organizational units and cooperation with everyone. And all of us, especially managers, must remember to constantly encourage and motivate our associates and employees so that they would be more satisfied and effective - the Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources emphasized.

On the occasion of the Personnel Service Day, the Assistant Minister for Human Resources, Katarina Tomašević, presented books and commendations to deserving individuals for the results they achieved over the past year.

The ceremony was organized by the Personnel Department, Human Resources Sector, as part of a series of activities marking the Personnel Service Day, whose common goal is to emphasize the importance of this service for the defence system.
