Vučić: Scanner for Karaburma military hospital
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić welcomed the arrival of an airplane delivering a donation of medical equipment intended for the fight against Covid-19 at the “Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović“ airpot in Batajnica today. The donation was sent by the United Arab Emirates to the citizens of Serbia.
While waiting for the arrival of the airplane at the Batajnica airport together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and the Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Major General Duško Žarković, President Vučić said that the donated modern 64-slice scanner was intended for the military hospital in Karaburma.As he pointed out, the donated medical equipment worth more than a million euros, was sent by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan himself to support and assist the Republic of Serbia and its citizens in their fight against the pandemic.
- These are top-quality machines. One MRI scanner alone weighs more than 14 tonnes and it is very expensive. These are devices worth a million euros each. Multi-slice CT scanners, mobile slice CT scanners, X-ray machines, regular and high-flow ventilators. They also sent 30,000 protective suitsand various types of consumables. This is several million worth of aid and a huge support - President Vučić emphasized, adding that it cost Serbia nothing, since Serbia’s great friend from the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed even paid for the transportation.
President Vučić expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed and the United Arab Emirates for this donation, adding that our friendship with him was solely responsible for this donation.
- This equipment is almost enough for one Covid hospital - President Vučić pointed out and said that the donated equipment would now go to the warehouse, from where it would be distributed to health institutions throughout Serbia, where it was most needed, adding once again that it was a huge help. He also noted that this was the second airplane delivering medical equipment sent by the Emirates.The charge d'affaires at the UAE Embassy in Belgrade pointed out during the reception at the Batajnica airport, that the equipment was donated to help and support friendly Serbia to overcome the coronavirus crisis, as instructed by the supreme leadership of the Emirates. He added that the aid had been sent to help Serbia fight the vicious virus, and expressed hope that the whole world would manage to overcome this plague.
President Vučić points out that the first batches of the „Pfizer-BioNTech" vaccine arrived in Serbia on Tuesday, and that the vaccination started yesterday, which places Serbia, along with Great Britain and Switzerland, among the European countries that have started vaccinations before the end of the year. He adds that Serbia will now receive vaccines on a weekly basis, emphasizing that afterthe nursing home residents are vaccinated, health workers will follow, and then others, which, as he points out, will deal a strong blow to the coronavirus.
