The Serbian Armed Forces strongest in the Western Balkans, better than the Armed Forces of Austria and Belgium

The reputable military site Global Firepower has released this year’s ranking of the military strength and military capabilities of countries. Serbia has advanced 13 positions on that list compared to the previous year, so its military strength is now ahead of some Western countries that were considered to be militarily stable and strong states.

Serbia is now 65th out of a possible 138 positions on this list.

More than 50 individual factors are included in the ranking to define the “power index”, with categories ranging from military power and finance to logistical capabilities and geographical position.

As the site states – theirunique formula also allows smaller countries, technologically advanced, to compete with large countries.

Below Serbia on the list are other countries in the region – Croatiaranked 69th, Slovenia ranked 100th, Albania 115th, Montenegro 123rd, Northern Macedonia ranked 127th and Bosnia and Herzegovina ranked 133rd in the ranking of the Global military site Global Firepower for 2020.
The comparison with neighboring countries that are on the list ahead of Serbia, is characteristic: Romania (39th on the list), Hungary (54th) and Bulgaria (62nd). While Serbia has had far faster and higher growth than all countries in the region, some of which have a larger budget and higher defense spending, Romania has fallen by one place compared to last year, Hungary by four places, and Bulgaria by 14 places.

The Global Firepower site takes defined parameters for comparison, which at some points are not relevant to Serbia, for example with relation to Croatia which has ports, vessels and everything related to the sea that Serbia does not have and is not comparable in this respect, so the power ratio is even greater in favor of Serbia.
