Premiere of the film “Povod” (“Cause”) by “Zastava film”

Defense of the homeland in 1999 can be described in many words, the attack by the NATO aggressor in but one – crime. Not to forget this crime, not to allow it grow lesser or fade away, it is crucial to leave testimonies in pen, voice and image.

On the occasion of 20th anniversary of country’s defence from the NATO aggression, the Public Relations Directorate and Defense Film Center “Zastava film” are presenting a film trilogy “NATO aggression against the FRY ... against peace”, which is a testimony of key events immediately preceding, during and after the NATO aggression on our country.
First film from the series, “Povod” (“Cause”), was premiered tonight at the Yugoslav Film Archive Hall. The film features key events preceding the NATO aggression on 24 March 1999.

The script and directing of the film “Povod” was done by professor Dragan Elčić, Dean of the Academy of Arts, with the expert consultation of Milovan Drecun. The authors’ team, presented at the end of the screening, includes the organizer Aleksandra Živković, film editor Dušan Milunović, composer Draško Janković, sound designer Boris Šurlan, actor Nemanja Dragaš and producer Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ikonić.

In the continuation of the Kosmet trilogy, films “Хумане бомбе“ (“Humane Bombs”) and “Три тачке на мир“ (“Ellipsis after Peace”) will be screened. The trilogy is called Kosmet trilogy as it mainly deals with the war events in Kosovo and Metohija and the heroic defense of the Yugoslav Army against a joint enemy – the NATO aviation, which also bombed Kosovo and Metohija and the entire territory of the FR of Yugoslavia; the terrorist KLA, which forced its way through our state border from Albania, determined to break through the defenses and regular army of the Republic of Albania, from whose territory continuous artillery operations were carried out.

According to the director of Defense Film Center “Zastava film”, Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ikonić, this three-part series is only an element in the overall contribution of “Zastava” in film production and memories of the 78 days of heroic defense of the homeland, memory of all those who have given their lives in this uneven battle, memory of innocent victims of the NATO bombs and people whose lethal diseases have been caused by bombs with depleted uranium and memory of the destroyed infrastructure, facilities, roads, railroads and bridges across the country.

From this production, Lieutenant Colonel Ikonić also highlighted the documentaries about battles on Košara and Paštrik in co-production with the Radio-Television of Serbia, whose premieres are expected in April and May this year.
