Military attachés visit the booth of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at the Book Fair
During the visit of foreign military representatives to the exhibition space of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces at the Book Fair, Director of Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Stevica Karapandžin presented to them this year's publishing production.
"The Media Centre publishes annually around 100 new titles, including about 80 books dealing with professional themes and 20 dealing with topics for the broader reading audience. The focus of this year's publishing activity is the edition Ratnik, consisting of seven books which speak of the war in Kosovo and Metohija in 1998 and 1999, through testimonies of participants and documents. The four volumes of that edition are actually the war diary of General Nebojša Pavković, Commander of the Third Army of the Yugoslav Armed Forces that was the most responsible unit for the country's defence against NATO aggression on that area. “The remaining three books deal with the war actions of the Pristina Corps and the battles in Košare and Paštrik”, Colonel Karapandžin said, adding that Odbrana Media Centre has been marking of the Great War for four years already. So far, 43 works dealing with World War I have been published with the aim of introducing the facts and understanding of the events, but also opposing the revision of history.On that occasion, British defence attaché Colonel Nick Ilić suggested that the works from the edition Ratnik (Warrior) be translated into English so as to become accessible to the foreign public as well.
“The war in Kosovo is a distant past in a certain way. However, a lot is still unknown, and this edition could be of great importance to all military experts in the world”, Colonel Ilić said.
