Maintenance of military compounds to be solved

On the initiative of the Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, at the Ministry of Defence the meeting has been held with representatives of public utility companies, which deal with the green space in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Krusevac. They talked about the legal possibilities for those organizations to overtake the job of maintaining green areas in the military compounds.

As Minister Djordjevic explained, the main aim of the Ministry of Defence is to provide the high-quality maintenance of green areas, as usual, and to enable public utility companies to potentially employ new people whereas members of the Armed Forces will be exclusively devoted to training and improving military skills.

“In my opinion, the involvement of public utility companies has a double benefit – soldiers will be content, they will have more time for training and professional development, and competent services will do their job and be adequately paid for it”, Minister Djordjevic said.

At the meeting the next steps, which should contribute to public utility companies overtaking maintenance of the military compounds as soon as possible were agreed, and the first of them is the precise assessment of area and works necessary to undertake in each of facilities.

With the same aim, Minister Djordjevic has recently met with representatives of the public enterprises “Serbia Forests” and “Vojvodina Forests”, which should overtake maintenance of forests in the military compounds.
