Meeting with representatives of Trade Union “Independence”



The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic with associates talked today with representatives of the Trade Union Administration, Justice, Defence and Police “Independence”.
 
The topics of the meeting today were the announced increase in salaries, the improvement of conditions for the Army members engaged in the Ground Safety Zone, as well as the possibility of better solution of housing issue of the employees at the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces by refinancing housing loans.

The President of the Trade Union “Independence” Dragan Cabric thanked for the fact that his proposals presented at the previous meeting encountered understanding at the Ministry of Defence. He said that the progress in the social dialogue was evident and he supported his further development for the purpose of the overall well-being.

Minister Djordjevic said that he would continue working on solving all real trade union requests and emphasized that trade unions are “eyes and ears of employees” in relation to employers. Therefore, the objective of the meeting with representatives of trade unions is to find the true cause of problems, and not to solve consequences without success or set unrealistic requirements.

In this sense, Mr. Djordjevic confirmed that by developing a pilot project the Ministry intensively works on the establishment of the Military self-revenue institution for physical and technical security, where professional soldiers would continue their engagement after the expiration of their employment contract in the Serbian Armed Forces. Filling vacancies for NCOs and admission of 1,300 professional soldiers is ongoing.
Representatives of the Trade Union “Independence” informed the Defence Minister about the current activities in the European military trade unions having in mind that they have recently attended the EUROMIL Assembly session.
