Meeting of the State Secretary Nerić with the Ambassador of Eritrea
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Nenad Nerić and the Ambassador of Eritrea, Fessahazion Pietros Menghista spoke today about the enhancement of relations between the two countries in the field of defence.
Stete Secreatry Nerić informed Ambassador Menghista that, in keeping with the agreement reached during the recent meeting of the Minister of Defence Zoran Đorđević and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea, Osman Mohammed Saleh, the Draft Agreement on Cooperation in the field of Defence was in the process of development which would provide formal-legal framework for development of bilateral military cooperation.
Having in mind that the Republic of Serbia is a regional leader in the field of military education, and that it possesses vast experience and considerable capacities in the field of military medicine, the interlocutors agreed that those are directions that the future cooperation should follow.
State Secretary Nerić familiarized Ambassador Menghista about the current positions and views of the official Belgrade on the issues significant for Serbia, with the EU accession process, engagement of the members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in multinational operations, as well as with the activities and results of the Joint Military and Police Forces achieved on preventing crossovers and smuggling of illegal migrants into the territory of Serbia.
The interlocutors exchanged the opinions on politico-security situation in the region and world, and Nerić extended gratitude for the principled support that the State of Eritrea has been rendering to Serbia in its efforts to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity.
