Opening the Conference, the Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources, Miloš Janković thanked the partners and donators for the cooperation and their support rendered so far. Additionally, he reminded that the knowledge and ability to speak English language had become necessary for an active participation of Serbia in the Partnership for Peace Programme and peace support operations through the United Nations and European Union operations.

- This is precisely why the skill of our professional staff to communicate in English language represents one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence and very important goal of the Serbian Armed Forces - Janković said and added that the activities of the Ministry management that were carried out in last several years resulted in constant increase in the level of investment in education and advancement of human resources in order to implement the Partnership Goal “G 1200 – Language Requirements”.

He reminded that the PELT Programme and STANAG test team are actively supported by the Agency for international language coordination and NATO body for language training.

-Although it has been planned for the Ministry of Defence to autonomously continue developing the programme for training and testing in the field of English language, in accordance with “STANAG”,        we believe that the results of the PELT programme make a good foundation for the continuation of the partner cooperation, and for the beginning of new regional cooperation among Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, through a joint project supported by the PELT donor countries – underlined the Assistant Minister Janković at the opening of the Conference.
