Presentation of the book "Jovan Dragasevic"



Представљена књига Јован ДрагашевићThe new publication of Odbrana Media Centre, biography "Jovan Dragašević" by Bozidar Jovovic and Radosav Suljagić, which was presented today at the Central Military Club, drew great attention of book lovers.
 
Many visitors in the Grand Hall of the Central Military Club were welcomed by the Director of Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Stevica Karapandžin, and then editor Snežana Djokić talked about the book.
 
An exceptional officer, poet, scholar, and journalist, Jovan Dragašević, had a brilliant military career. He advanced from lieutenant to the honorary general. He was a man of broad views, one step ahead of his time, and he believed that the national unity of the Serbian people of his time can only be achieved with a strong Serbian Army led by nationally conscious, educated and skilled officers and non-commissioned officers, supported by intellectuals of similar quality.
           
Представљена књига Јован ДрагашевићHe fought in the Serbo-Turkish wars, from 1876 to 1878, and in the Serbo-Bulgarian War in 1885. As a military expert, he was in the delegation of Serbia at the Berlin Congress. He was professor at the Artillery School of the Military Academy, Head of History Department of the General Staff, a full member of the Serbian Scientific Society, Serbian Learned Society, and later a member of the Serbian Royal Academy.
                                                                    
Being many times awarded for his work, general Dragašević was a versatile and prolific creator. He wrote and edited the oldest military newspapers "Vojin" and "Ratnik" (the Warrior); he was author of the famous slogan "Only concord saves the Serb, so it is written for the Serb on the coat of arms", first published in his song "Echo of fiddle."
           
Lieutenant General retired Radovan Tomanovic, PhD, spoke about the authors of the biography "Jovan Dragašević" and the hero of the book, and then the writer Veliša Joksimovic, MSc, and author Navy Captain retired Radosav Šuljagić, PhD, talked about the book.
