Marking the Day of the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad and 230 years of existence of the Military Hospital in Petrovaradin



Обележени Дан Војномедицинског центра Нови Сад и 230 година Војне болнице у Петроварадину Defence Minister Zoran Đorđević attended tonight in Sokolski Dom in Novi Sad the ceremony of marking 11th November – the Day of the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad and anniversary – 230 years of existence of the Military Hospital in Petrovaradin.

Talking about the importance of the Military Hospital in Petrovaradin in the previous period, Minister Đorđević said that during World War II this hospital looked after thousands of the wounded from the Syrmian Front, performed well during 1990s in taking care of more than thousands of injured people, as well as during 78 days in 1999.

Обележени Дан Војномедицинског центра Нови Сад и 230 година Војне болнице у Петроварадину “Today the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad as the only stationary military medical institution in the territory of Autonomouus Province of Vojvodina is responsible for looking after military and civilian patient population and gives a full contribution in a state of emergency and peacekeeping missions” – said Minister Đorđević and added that the Ministry of Defence regards military health as an essential part of a total system which is strengthened and improved according to capabilities. 
“I hope that this will be even more intense in the forthcoming period because that is the only way how better conditions can be created for military health and the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad as its part to be the solid support to the Ministry of Defence, Serbian Armed Forces, our nation and our Serbia in the future” – stressed Minister Đorđević.

In his talk Colonel Bratoljub Brkljača, Head of the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad, emphasized that the Military Hospital in Petrovaradin has lived 230 years because it was established on solid foundations of constant fight for human health and because it was built with firm walls of love towards humans, effort and knowledge of numerous medical workers.

The ceremonial academy was attended by Deputy Head of Military Health Department Colonel PhD Uglješa Jovičić and Head of the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad Colonel Bratoljub Brkljača who gave Plaques of the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad to Minister Đorđević and the City organization of Red Cross, Episcop of Srem Vasilije, the Secretary of Province for health Zoran Gojković, President of the Assembly of the City of Novi Sad Zdravko Jelušić, representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces and many other guests.

During the artistic part of the programme, the Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binički” led by maestro Pavle Medaković, mixed choir “Sveti Roman Slatkopojac”  with conductor Evgenija Vladimirovna Kojić and octet “ISON” performed.
