Defence Minister met with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey



Састанак министра одбране са амбасадором ТурскеDefence Minister Zoran Đorđević and Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Belgrade H.E. Mehmet Kemal Bozay discussed possibilities of improvement of cooperation in the field of  defence and other fields of mutual interest.

The two interlocutors concluded that contemporary security challenges, risks and threats regarding terrorism and migrant crisis, which violates regional stability, represent an incentive for closer cooperation between two countries and connection between all countries in the region.

Đorđević stressed that cooperation should be primarily developed in the field of military-economic and military-educational sphere, and in the exchange of experience in training and participation in joint exercises of special forces and through cooperation within regional security integrations and initiatives.

Minister Đorđević emphasized that since the beginning of this year more than 100.000 migrants have entered Serbia and that 7000 of them are still at the territory of Serbia in 5 permanent and 14 temporary reception centres. Also, he pointed out that from the beginning of engagement of joint forces of Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior to safeguard the state border with Bulgaria and Macedonia, the illegal crossing of almost 15.000 migrants has been stopped.

Talks went on about the extension of deadline for donation according to the Agreement on conversion of airport “Morava”.
