Conference of National Armaments Directors



Састанак Конференције националних директора за наоружањеMeeting of the Conference of National Armaments Directors in Interoperability Platform (IP) format has been held today in Brussels. At the meeting, the Republic of Serbia was represented by Major General Bojan Zrnic, Head of Defence Technology Department of the Material Resources Sector.
 
The meeting, attended by representatives of 46 countries, was chaired by Mr Camille Grand, Permanent Chairman of the CNAD and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment. During the meeting, they took stock of the efforts to continue the enhanced contribution of the Conference of National Armaments Directors in 2016, briefed about the progress in the work of groups for special purpose capabilities that are being developed within the Main Armaments Groups, and emphasized the importance of standardization in the process of achieving interoperability between NATO member states and partner countries. Special attention during the meeting was paid to the possibilities offered by cooperation with the commercial sector in the field of building defence capabilities.
 
The audience was addressed by Major General Zrnic Bojan, who presented the capacities of the Ministry of Defence and the defence industry of the Republic of Serbia in the areas of research, development and production, which are of possible interest to the common forms of capacity building and cooperation in multinational projects.
 
On the sidelines of the meeting, General Zrnic spoke with the national directors of NATO member states and partners about the modern trends of development and production of arms and military equipment, and the challenges the process faces.
 
The Conference of National Armaments Directors is responsible for the coordination of joint activities within NATO related to research, development and production of arms and military equipment and is open for cooperation with partner countries in accordance with their needs and possibilities.
