Activities of the Defence Minister in Southern Serbia



Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic visited today the 1300 Corporals Army Barracks in Vranje, where he was welcomed by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic, Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, 4th Army Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Zoran Lubura, and other members of that unit.
 
On that occasion, General Lubura informed the defence minister and his associates about the organization and tasks of the 4th Army Brigade, the situation in the Ground Safety Zone, and efforts to secure the border.
 
During his visit to the southern part of the country, today, Minister Djordjevic visited also the memorial room of the 4th Brigade in the ‘First Infantry Regiment of Prince Milos the Great’ barracks, which is unique for its cultural and historical value not only in our country but also in a wider context.
 
Brigadier General Zoran Lubura and Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic informed the Minister of Defence about the establishment of the memorial room and sacrifices that the people of Vranje suffered in the wars for the liberation of Serbia and in the recent war events.
 
As part of a tour of southern Serbia, Defence Minister visited the Madjere base, located in the hills, 15 kilometres away from Presevo. In the base, Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Dedic briefed the minister and his associates on all the elements of securing the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija and control of the Ground Safety Zone, while the commander of the Madjere base, Major Radomir Dundjer, introduced him to the specific circumstances of the life and work of members of the 1st Army Brigade. During his stay in the Madjere base, Defence Minister talked to the officers and soldiers who carry out tasks in the area of ​​the base.
 
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic have attended today the presentation of skills of a part of the units of the Ministry of Interior in the centre of Nis.
 
Tonight, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Serbia has been held.
