OTEH 2016 Scientific Conference Opens
At the Military Technical Institute, today, the 7th International Scientific Conference in the field of Defence Technology – OTEH 2016 has commenced. The organizer of this two-day conference is the Military Technical Institute together with the Department for Defence Technologies of the Ministry of Defence. The opening ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic with associates, foreign military representatives, representatives of the defence industries, universities, authors, employees of the MTI.Opening the conference, Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic spoke about the importance of OTEH for the development of scientific knowledge in the field of defence and the international character of the conference.
-The Government of the Republic of Serbia will always recognize the importance of investing in research and development projects in the field of defence. Our strategic goal and task are to increase the investments in the production of new systems that are used both in the field of defence and in the civilian sector. Such investments have a direct impact on increasing the economic development of the Republic of Serbia, enhancement of exports, necessary raising the knowledge and domestic production capacity, improving industrial and technological base, the revitalization of industries such as the air industry, mechanical, electrical, chemical and many others.
Defence Minister said that he hoped that this year's OTEH will increase the existing significant interest in bilateral cooperation with our country and contribute to the investment in the production of defence systems, as well as their placement on the domestic and foreign markets.
Director of the Military Technical Institute, Colonel Zoran Rajic, said that nowadays there is a real need for close cooperation and exchange of experiences between all the entities involved in the development of arms and military equipment, ranging from the developmental institutions, over manufacturer to the users themselves. One of the ways of establishing and deepening cooperation is exactly the participation in international meetings and conferences, such as OTEH.Colonel Rajic stressed that this year’s OTEH will have more than 500 authors and co-authors from 14 countries, who will present 131 works, 23 of them from abroad.
For several years in a row, OTEH has been dedicated to the greatest Serbian and international scientists – this year to a mathematician Mileva Maric Einstein. Professor Velimir Abramovic spoke about her work in the introductory lecture.
OTEH is a scientific conference in the field of defence technologies, which has been held since 2005 in order to look at the achievements in this area. It got its pure international character in 2011. It is held every other year.
