Minister receives the award "Best European 2012"



First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic received this evening the prize "Best European 2012" policy of the department, awarded first European house, at a ceremony in the City Hall of Belgrade.

The awards were given and Verica Barac in economy, posthumously, Italian Ambassador Armando Vicario, as a foreigner, Prof. Dr. Nenad Vunjku for Education, Djordje Momirovic for Entrepreneurship and Ani Brnabic for the most European project.

The first European house in its explanation stated that Vucic has been awarded this commendation as a key figure of the Serbian government, which has taken a clear, bold and concrete steps to reform the state and its administration, in particular to strengthen the institutions of justice, security and public procurement, and to take responsibility to fix very bad situation in these areas.

On this occasion, thanking for the award, Minister Vucic said that he was not "the best European," but an ordinary citizen of Serbia who wants to do something for his country and people.

- Our country is in serious crisis, our country is facing big challenges ahead, but I believe, it has a great future, and our people have a clear horizon in front of him they have to reach- as minister Vucic remarked, adding that when he said, not "Best European," he referred to people who were much more consistent and persistent in it.

I am not ashamed of the mistakes I have made, as something I can learn a lot from, said Minister Vucic, expressing gratitude to all those who have supported his work and who managed to recognize the hard work and passion in order to help his people and his country move forward.

- Serbia is on a good path. Serbia can not be broken down, Serbia can not be overcome. Long live Serbia! - Said Minister Vucic.

Responding to reporters' questions after receiving the award, Minister Vucic said that the award to him tonight presented was important for the country and for those who have carried out the reform and modernization, as well as for those who have tackled the major problems that had plagued the country for the past two decades.

First European House Award "Best European" awards since 2000. Among the winners in the past 13 years were Zoran Djindjic, Boris Tadic, Bozidar Delic, Dragoljub Micunovic, Miroljub Labus, Nebojsa Covic, Vojin Dimitrijevic, and in 2009 and the current Prime Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic was the laureate.
