Members of the defence system traditionally in the Belgrade Marathon




Припадници система одбране традиционално на Београдском маратонуMembers of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces took part in this year's 29th Belgrade Marathon. Among more than 5,000 athletes from 58 countries, there were 176 members of the defence system.

In the half marathon race, 21 kilometres long track, the participants were also the Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, Major General Goran Radovanovic, and colonels Milivoje Pajovic and Dragan Kotarlic.

The Defence Minister said that the participation in the Marathon is just a confirmation "that whatever we want – we can".

There were 11 members of the defence system participating in the marathon. The greatest success was achieved in the half marathon race where the second and the third place in the women's competition was taken by Lieutenant Nevena Jovanovic and professional soldier Natasa Culafic, and in the marathon race of 42 kilometres, the most successful was Lieutenant Colonel Nenad Milosavljevic, who passed through the Finish line as the fifth-placed. Professional soldier Marijana Cegar Lukic gave up the marathon race at 10 kilometres before the Finish, and at that moment she was the third placed.

Kenyan athlete Abel Kibet Rop triumphed on 29th Belgrade marathon, while the winner in the women's competition was Stela Barsosio from Kenya.
