Minister Djordjevic handed over the keys of the apartments from the Fund for Social Insurance of Military Beneficiaries




Министар Ђорђевић уручио кључеве од станова из Фонда СОВОDefence Minister Zoran Djordjevic today has handed over keys of ten flats in the Belgrade residential area Mirijevo to retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. These are beneficiaries of the Military Fund for Social Insurance who lost their apartments in the territory of the former Yugoslav republics after the disintegration of Yugoslavia.

Minister Djordjevic pointed out that this was the first allocation of apartments to members of the defence system this year, adding that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces would do everything possible to solve the housing issues of active and retired members of the system in the shortest possible time.

One of the new tenants in the Kisele vode street in Mirijevo, retired Lieutenant Colonel Stevan Stefanovic, who had been waiting for more than two decades for solving his housing problem after leaving Zagreb at the end of 1991. Besides the allocation of apartments on lease for an indefinite period, the Fund for Social Insurance of Military Beneficiaries has so far allocated a total of 1,646 mortgage loans worth EUR 20,000 in dinar equivalent, out of which 25 have completed this year, and by the end of the year it was planned to complete another 75 loans. It is expected during 2016 that the Fund for Social Insurance of Military Beneficiaries provides housing for another 120 beneficiaries of military pensions, 100 of which through loans and 20 by allocating apartments on lease for an indefinite period of time.
