Lecture by Ambassador of the Russian Federation at the Military Academy





Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Vasiljevic Chepurin, as a guest speaker, held today at the Military Academy a lecture on the topic "International security, international terrorism and counter-terrorism."

The lecture, which was intended for the participants in the 5th Class of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies, 59th Class of the General Staff Course and 62nd Class of the Command and Staff Course, was attended by the Commandant of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic, Head of the National Defence School Colonel Miroslav Talian as well as teachers and lecturers of that higher education institution.

Speaking about the strategic and geopolitical position of the Russian Federation, Ambassador Chepurin reminded that that the country stretches across two continents, and that is why it is culturally and economically oriented to Europe and Asia.

During the lecture, the Ambassador commented on the period of the Cold War, reminding that its end caused the creation of a new world order that has been facing great challenges in the recent years. That is why, Ambassador Chepurin said, it is not easy to predict what the world will look like in the near future.

According to him, Southeast Asia and China have been the leaders in the field of economic development in recent years, moving the global market from the US and Europe to the Middle East.

Ambassador Chepurin pointed out the similarities in the turbulent history of the Serbian and Russian peoples, noting that it largely derives from the geopolitical situation between the two countries. Thanks to the important place that the army has always occupied in Serbia and Russia, he says, they have managed even in the years of the biggest crises to preserve their land.

The final part of today's lecture by Ambassador Chepurin was reserved for discussion with the participants in the School of National Defence.

In the end, Commandant of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic thanked the Ambassador of the Russian Federation on the lecture and handed him a badge of the School of National Defence.
