Intensified military cooperation with Emirates



Nebojsa Rodic, Minister of Defence in the caretaker government, met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan,Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and the Abdul Aziz Nasser Al Shamsi, UAE's non-resident ambassador to Serbia.

During the meeting, it has been concluded that the current development of relations between the two countries provides an excellent basis for intensifying cooperation in the field of defence. So far, the results are evident in the field of military economic and military-to-military cooperation, and there have been established initial forms of cooperation within the security and defence agencies, military police and special forces, as well as in the field of ICT and cyber defence. In the forthcoming period, as the two delegations agreed, it is necessary to consider also the possibilities for cooperation in the field of military education and medicine.

At the meeting they exchanged the views on the political and security situation in the region and the world. It has also been noted that during 2013 there have been many high-level visits and expert working groups realised between the two countries and they stressed the need to maintain continuity of such meetings.

The Republic of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of defence and the Joint Statement on the establishment of strategic partnership.
