Minister Rodic meets with the US ambassador Michael Kirby
The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic met today with U.S. Ambassador to Belgrade Michael Kirby.
It was concluded that cooperation in the field of defense was at a high level with both sides having vested interest in further development and enhancement of defense cooperation in all areas. The focus of the cooperation is on joint exercises and training units. Furthermore, it was pointed out that another important area of cooperation is education and training.Taking into consideration Serbia’s strategic orientation towards increasing engagement in peacekeeping missions of the United Nations and the European Union, the focus in the participation in exercises, training and equipping will be on SAF declared units. With respect to this, the cooperation with the United States in the development of the military base "Jug" was another aspect that was stressed where the training for participation in multinational operations takes place. Next year is the year when an international exercise " PLATINUM WOLF 14 " a preparation exercise will take place in this military base
Minister Rodic and Ambassador Kirby agreed that cooperation between the Serbian Army and the Ohio National Guard , especially through the realization of the project "humanitarian assistance ", contributes to the further development of friendly relations between Serbia and the United States .
