Foreign military representatives visit booth of Odbrana Media Centre

Foreign military representatives accredited in Belgrade visited today, as a tradition, the booth of Odbrana Media Centre at the 58th International Belgrade Book Fair.

Welcoming the guests, the Director of the Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Slavoljub Markovic pointed out that this is very important cultural event, judging by the number of domestic and foreign exhibitors, where military publishing is traditionally present.

Presenting the activities of Odbrana Media Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Markovic said that this house appears at the fair with publications for the general public which makes only a fifth of its activities, while the rest is dedicated to the needs of the defence system.

Talking about the publications that marked the year behind us, Colonel Markovic pointed out two important monographs "Military Security Service in Serbia" by Svetko Kovac and Irena Popovic, "Military Intelligence Service in Serbia" by the group of authors, as well as the book "Serbian Army in the Great War of 1914 - 1918" by Dusan Babac.

After the tour of the booth, Assistant of the Defence Attaché of the United States Major Robert Mayne said that this is a very nice way to present the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia to the public.

- Everything is well organized and there is a lot of useful information. I also visit the website of the Ministry of Defence every day, and I am very surprised at how fast after the event the information is placed in public – Robert Mayne said.

According to the French Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Olivier Ruane, visiting the booth he saw a lot of interesting publications but, unfortunately, the lack of time prevents him to plunge into each of them, although he wanted to.

Assessing the performance of the Odbrana Media Centre at this year's Book Fair commendable, the Greek Defence Attaché Colonel Antonios Kostakis expressed his satisfaction that the publications of this house cover almost every aspect of the activities of the security sector.
